Fancy Dress

Fancy Dress

I am not much of a shopper (unless you count food!). So, I waited until the very last moment to find a dress to wear for the James Beard Foundation Awards Gala (in case you missed it, Sahadi’s is a recipient of the 2017 America’s Classic and we’re accepting the award on Monday). After a mad dash through Saks Fifth Ave, Neiman Marcus and Century 21 -- all in an hour or so and having absolutely no luck, I decided it was the venues. Too many choices, and I headed on back home to Brooklyn. Since I only had two days to go, I made one last stop at a little dress shop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn: Nile Boutique. I saw a dress in the window and bought it immediately with the assurance that it would arrive the next business day and could be altered overnight. Luckily I managed to pick it up with two hours to spare on the way to the airport. I hadn’t bought a formal dress in years and was jazzed about the way this one fit. Here's to hoping the food at Chef's Night Out doesn't undo the fine tailoring. I am sure it will be worth it!! Since we are importers first and foremost, I’m headed to a big importers conference in Florida and then going directly to the James Beard awards ceremony in Chicago from there -- making this the most well-traveled formal dress I have ever owned.
