November is here and with it comes the reality of the Holidays. In retail, the holiday prep starts in the spring with pre-booking overseas specialties to ensure our inventory (i.e. — so we don’t run out of your favorite candy!). Every year when I am ordering organic candy canes and mincemeat tarts in late April, I experience a unique sense of disorientation planning the fourth quarter while enjoying the arrival of spring — but that is the life of a retailer!

Most days I really enjoy my work, but there are some days I absolutely love it! Today was one of those days. My management team enjoyed a caviar tasting by Regalis. Choosing specialty food as a career means I have had caviar on more than one occasion, but this caviar was amazing. We tasted alone off the side of our hands and each pearl was distinct, briny, moist, earthy and just a flavor explosion in my mouth. Unadulterated, it tasted like the pure clean ocean. We tasted 5 varieties side by side, and each had unique flavors and a distinct texture.

The caviar offering is one of the new exciting initiatives we have brought to both our stores. The Industry City store will stock these items during the holiday season and Atlantic Avenue will have them available on 24-hour preorder. I can’t wait to get our curated selection in stock next week! The best part was revisiting the varieties I liked best later in the evening with a perfect glass of Cava at our wine bar.

Festive happenings at our Industry City store for the holidays include the introduction of our meze menu. Settle in at our Mediterranean-focused bar and taste unique and lesser known wines from Lebanon and Morocco, as well as Lebanese beer and local craft varieties. Pair your glass with one or many of our small plates, such as: falafel with green tahini, kibbee balls, Moroccan spiced Homous, smoked baba ghanoug, cheese & charcuterie boards, as well as daily rotating specials. We’ve been working hard at refining our meze menu, so please stop by to grab a bite or light meal. Meze service runs from Sunday through Thursday 4–7pm and Friday and Saturday until 9pm. That gives you plenty of opportunities to try a different pairing each time! Throughout the week, we offer wine and happy hour specials too. Join us and sample the legendary Mediterranean hospitality that was the inspiration for our café and bar at Industry City.




With a huge lift from our Kitchen staff, we got our Industry City off-premise catering menu up and running! Mediterranean boards and cheese & charcuterie boards have quickly become the best sellers, along with “make your own saj” fixings and platters of our own slow-roasted harissa salmon. When paired with kale salad and traditional favorites like lentils and rice with caramelized onions, and grounded with fresh Amish all-natural turkeys and cranberry sauce decorated with our freshly roasted nuts, you can easily put together a great holiday celebration!



For Atlantic Avenue, the focus at this time of the year shifts to our Holiday catering menu.  Roasted Turkeys and Hams are accompanied by Middle Eastern lamb and rice stuffing, or apricot hazelnut stuffing, glazed sweet potatoes or wild rice salad with cranberries. These items make up a traditional yet unique holiday meal. Of course, we have pies for sale, but also locally made Middle Eastern pastries like baklava and ma’moul. In store we stock the deli with side dishes of every kind of holiday meal. Our rotating menu of festive sides is available daily, and we love when the holidays come because it brings wonderful seasonal comfort foods back to our cases.
