When the weather finally turns to autumn and Thanksgiving dinner is on my mind, my thoughts inevitably turn to seasonal cheeseboards. The best thing about boards is that they are customizable for every occasion. My personal preference is to express the colors and flavors of each season, so I look at our fall offerings and what fruits and nuts are new crop for inspiration. I may add some mahlab-scented nuts to this for a nice homemade treat. Making a fabulous board is about sourcing and showcasing amazing ingredients -- something that there is never a shortage of at Sahadi’s!
Here's my suggested shopping list for a Thanksgiving or Fall Harvest grazing board:
Chestnuts, preferably home-roasted Italian but in a pinch French jarred ones will do
Black caraway honey
Smoked feta cheese
Roasted walnuts with a little extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and Aleppo pepper
Medjoul dates
Turkish figs
Turkish apricots
Aged Mimolette cheese
Lazy Lady soft-ripened cheese
Peruvian pearl peppers red/yellow
Brooklyn-cured Lamb Dry Sausage
Tapenade
Trois Petit Cochons Ham
Sahadi Lavasch
Sahadi Zaatar Chips
